Finance Minister inspects construction works at the SVTP

The Minister of Finance Honorable Felix Mlusu visited the construction site of the Shire Valley Transformation Programme in Chikwawa.

Speaking during the visit, Honorable Mlusu described the construction of the irrigation canal as of paramount importance to the agriculture commercialization drive by the government. He hailed the project for the progress so far made since construction commenced in April 2020.

“Agriculture productivity and commercialization is one of the key pillars in our Malawi 2063 Vision. The Shire Valley Transformation Programme will greatly contribute to achieving the first pillar in our agenda on agriculture productivity and commercialization. Through this pillar, we seek to improve productivity and access to structured markets for products produced here in the Shire Valley and across the country both at local and international levels,” he said.

Honorable Mlusu reiterated the Government’s commitment towards ensuring successful completion and utilization of the irrigation infrastructure.
